Q: For an ingredient list in Canada, do you need to include a description of a preservative's function when added to a food – for example, potassium sorbate (preservative)?

K.T., Nutrition Sr. Manager, Missouri

A: No, you are not required to include the function of a declared preservative on ingredient lists for Canada. This also applies to Mexico.
