Q: Is "sustainably sourced" a regulated claim?

A: Yes, “sustainably sourced” is a regulated claim. Like all product claims, environmental claims such as this must be truthful, substantiated, and non-deceptive to consumers. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regulates environmental marketing claims for FDA-regulated products, while FSIS regulates these types of claims for USDA-regulated meat and poultry products.
