Reader Q+A
Answers to your important questions
Q: We are selling a seasoning mix for a salad dressing. My understanding is that we are only required to provide nutrition for the mix “as sold,” versus “as prepared,” even if the package includes recipes. Is that correct?
E. D., Food Label Insider
A: Nutrition Facts labels are required to provide nutrition information for the product “as sold” (as packaged) to the consumer. Additional columns of nutrition information for the product “as prepared” are generally voluntary.
